Overlay on project files

Users can enable the overlay feature on their business unit. On enabling this feature an overlay will be displayed on files having usage rights expired or not yet started. This is to restrict the original image to be copied or used without permission. The overlay will also be applied to the asset tile view and list view.

The files with the usage rights set as expired or not yet started will have an overlay text ‘Usage rights expired or not yet started' with an ‘X’ crossing out the file preview. In simple terms whenever there is a banner message displayed an overlay will be applied to the file. This is applicable to the file preview page and file tile view.

Key Information

  • This feature applies to all usage right types and media types.

  • Downloading files with the overlay downloads a clean copy.

  • The overlay is displayed on all secure and public share file preview screens.

  • There will be no overlay on files without any usage rights applied.

  • General rights - If a file has General usage right type added multiple times (e.g. General Expired, General Available, and General Not yet started). Then we do not display the overlay during the available period though the file has expired/not yet started files.
For E.g. File F1 has the following UR's:
General - Set from 01 Jan -15 Jan
General - Set from 01 Feb -20 Feb
We display the overlay between 16 Jan - 31 Jan and from 21st Feb onwards.

  • If a file has multiple usage rights types added (e.g. Music, Voice over artist, etc.). Even if one of the usage right types is expired, the asset gets expired the overlay will be displayed.
For E.g. File F1 has the following UR's:
General – Set from 01 Feb -20 Feb
Voice over artist – Set from 01 Jan – 25 Feb
We display the overlay between 01st Jan – 31st Jan and from 21st Feb onwards.
